StatSoft is a technology leader in the fast growing area of integrated, enterprise-wide data analysis solutions organized around centralized data warehouses. These powerful, state-of-the-art software system solutions can either be (a) installed as stand-alone systems (e.g., to monitor and control manufacturing processes of practically unlimited complexity), or (b) seamlessly integrated as a component of enterprise computing environments. The latter solution can incorporate existing data warehouses or ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) software systems such as those offered by Oracle, SAP, and others. The two lines of enterprise solutions offered by StatSoft (SEWSS and SENS, designed for manufacturing and general applications, respectively), combine the highest-performance data access and system integration technologies with the unmatched analytical power and user-friendliness of STATISTICA. These (a) knowledge discovery, (b) strategic information delivery, and (c) decision support solutions offer powerful options to query, explore, and mine data bases, perform automatic or interactive analyses, and generate automatic or user-specified analytic responses. They also offer a rich selection of tools for collaborative work (groupware functionality) and distribution of the results of the work e.g., by generating formatted reports and automatically broadcasting them to specific recipients or posting them on Intranet or the Internet.Three general categories of these powerful solutions are described in the following sections.
STATISTICA Enterprise-Wide SPC System -
The Only Enterprise-wide
The SEWSS Data Warehouse. Stores all information about the manufacturing process in one location allowing for centralized management of both raw data and process characteristics; Compatible and Linkable, Company-wide. Link SEWSS to any industry-standard enterprise-wide database management system using the latest OLE DB technologies including connections to legacy databases, databae management systems, and any ODBC-compliant databases. Easy-to-Use and Comprehensive. Features user-friendly, practical organization for technicians without sacrificing comprehensive techniques used by supervisors and engineers.
Efficient Data Mining, OLAP Tool. Functions as an on-line analytical processing tool capable of automatically or interactively performing and updating analyses of data following predefined scripts; reports can be automatically printed or saved in rich text format (read by virtually all word processors), and html format (for reviewing with a web browser). True Groupware Functionality. Allows for collaborative work, including the sharing of data, queries, scripts of reports and analyses, as well as all forms of output.
StatSoft Data Analysis Tools (integrated into SEWSS or available as stand-alone products. SEWSS offers unmatched analytic, exploratory, and reporting power through its fully integrated access to all tools of STATISTICA (the most comprehensive data analysis, graphics, reporting, and application development system). Depending on the specific configuration, different components of the STATISTICA line of data analysis tools can be made available to different categories of SEWSS users. Many of those tools are also available in single-user versions as stand-alone products. These tools include the largest selection of DOE (Design of experiments), Industrial Process Analysis, Modeling, Exploratory, Data Mining and manyother Knowledge Discovery tools (including the most comprehensive implementations of such specialized methods as Neural Networks and Power Analysis available on the market).
Note that StatSoft also offers a product called STATISTICA Connectivity Kit (SCK) which is designed for isolated workstations or single-user types of applications. SCK consists of a subset of the features described here. For more information, see STATISTICA Connectivity Kit.
STATISTICA has received the highest rating in EVERY comparative review of statistics software in which it was featured, since its first release in 1993.
Summary. STATISTICA Enterprise-wide System (SENS) is a multi-user version of STATISTICA fully integrated with a powerful central data warehouse providing (a) an efficient general interface to enterprise-wide repositories of data, (b) a means for collaborative work (extensive groupware functionality), and (c) advanced, intelligent enterprise data broadcasting and proactive/automatic enterprise data analysis facilities. SENS vs. standard network version of STATISTICA. Note that standard network versions of application programs typically have no (or very limited) support for collaborative work of groups of users, and (with the exception of designated multi-user database management applications) they usually have no support for central, multi-user repositories of data. The main advantages of standard network versions of application programs are (a) the lower cost "per seat" compared to stand alone programs, (b) saving disk space (since only one copy of the application files resides on the network), and (c) the ease of patching or upgrading to new versions (only one copy needs to be reinstalled or patched). No file sharing or any other groupware/multi-user features are supported in such applications, and, for example, two users cannot work on the same file. Unlike the regular network version of STATISTICA, SENS offers extensive groupware functionality by allowing multiple users to share (e.g., simultaneously read from and write to) files stored in a central location. Also, SENS users can share queries of any degree of complexity (e.g., OLAP queries) allowing them to retrieve specific subsets of data from central repositories and share scripts of analyses that can be centrally updated (e.g., predefined reports that are can be centrally adjusted by supervisors or designated analysts). The results of their work can be shared either in the local environments (by making them available to those other users of SENS who enjoy the respective access privileges) or the global cyberspace (e.g., by publishing STATISTICA HTML reports on the Internet/Intranet). The SENS data warehouse. SENS is organized around a central STATISTICA (SENS) data warehouse that can be installed on any of the industry standard database management systems (including all major scalable systems such as Oracle, Sybase, MS SQL Server, or IBM DB2; MS Access support for small enterprises is also available). The installation of the SENS warehouse can be done by setting up on a server a provided SENS warehouse template (schema) and it does not involve extensive knowledge about the specific database environment. SENS is available with predefined data warehouse templates for all industry standard databases (over 30 types and versions are supported), so the deployment of the system is relatively simple. Links to non-SENS data. As mentioned before, SENS serves as an efficient interface to the existing enterprise-wide data warehouses and it offers a means to establish links with enterprise data so that SENS users can access those data in a transparent manner (virtual views of specific subsets of data can be made available to specific groups of SENS users depending on their respective access privileges). This enterprise data interface function (making the enterprise data easily accessible) is one of the most important advantages of SENS. Depending on the existing data warehouses (and users' access privileges), SENS users can not only read, but also modify the warehouse data. (A comprehensive SENS security management system allows the administrators to assign specific access privileges to particular categories of users.) OLAP. Note also that this architecture allows SENS to function as an efficient, high-end OLAP (On-Line Analytic Processing) tool integrated with extensive data mining facilities available in STATISTICA. SENS is capable of automatically or interactively performing and updating analyses of enterprise data (following predefined scripts) that consolidate information from SENS and other enterprise data warehouses. Automatic data monitoring and data analysis functions; analytic auto-responding; enterprise data broadcasting. In today's rapidly changing business world, success depends more than ever on a business' ability to quickly respond to the changing conditions. The reliance on comprehensive insight into the available data and the ability to quickly respond either directly or by performing appropriate, predefined analyses (e.g., via OLAP) are no longer a luxury but a real necessity. In this context, the powerful facilities of the SENS system to automatically react to user-defined changes in data are particularly relevant. These custom-defined conditions can be of practically any complexity and they can even represent results of on-line analyses performed by SENS in real-time on the incoming data stream or on sampled data. These flexible facilities are built using StatSoft's real-time data monitoring technologies and they can be used in countless business or research applications. Facilities are provided to setup any SENS workstation as an automatic data monitor and/or processor, that will fetch or sample the appropriate data subsets from the SENS or other enterprise data warehouse, perform the predefined analyses and then respond appropriately. For example, when certain conditions are met (e.g., the price of a particular commodity reaches a certain threshold, certain inventory falls below a particular level, the number of complaints or registered defects compared to the moving average exceeds a preset tolerance level), then SENS will automatically execute a predefined action (e.g., send e-mail, send a fax, call a pager, or simply broadcast the relevant information or the result of analyses to selected members of the organization or nodes of the SENS installation).
The technology offered in STATISTICA Enterprise-Wide SPC System (SEWSS) and STATISTICA Enterprise-wide System (SENS) allows companies to fully integrate our software with their existing computing environments - practically regardless of their size or complexity. StatSoft Technical Services and R&D Departments offer a wide variety of custom development, implementation and system integration services that can range from small-scale, single-device data monitoring and analysis systems or setting up your STATISTICA software to work with your current corporate database to developing and implementing a large-scale integrated, enterprise-wide quality control data collection, warehousing, and analysis system. For example if your company requires a highly specialized, custom data monitoring and auto-response solution (e.g., you need an application that will monitor tens of thousands of characteristics simultaneously, process the respective data in the background, and notify the operator workstations only if some pre-defined set of conditions are not met), we can set up a custom "headless server" or "black box" extension of the STATISTICA Enterprise-Wide System (SEWSS) and implement it at your site.
